Steve Jobs, Apple founder has decided it is time to step down as CEO of Apple. He has always said if he could not fulfill his duties he will no longer continue. And he feels this time has come. I cannot say I am hugely suprised by this and this is the reason I did not rush to tell the news, as I knew everyone else has already written, vlogged, podcasted, all about it. But some have asked me to speak on it.
Jobs has been on a leave of absence since January, he has spoken at a few conferences, but as a full time Apple employee he has been on leave. It is no secret that Jobs has worried about his health, and has gone through cancer already. I feel it is time for him to spend time with his close friends and family and I wish him the best in his health.
Apple WILL be fine, Jobs does not sit and glue your iPad 2 together, Apple has a design team, it is not just Jobs sitting in a room, coming up with every bit of detail for the next hot thing! Jobs has worked hard and long and deserves a lot of credit for the success of Apple, but so does the whole team. Jobs is leaving not all of Apple’s Team.
Jobs recommended Tim Cook to take over as CEO of Apple and Jobs remains as chairman of the board.
