Pinterest is a web service that allows you to select one image from a website and add a description to it, from there others can like it, comment or re-pin it.
When I first heard about this site I thought to myself what is the purpose Well after a few days of using it I now see the potential behind it. For me, I see Pinterest to be a great way to organize interesting news stories and various stuff from around the web to view and reflect on at a later date. Some people take that idea to the next level and use their pin boards as inspiration for design and writing, while getting feedback from other users and followers.
Currently you need to request an invitation to use the service but getting one is easy enough, and the sign up process is easy, you also get the choice to connect to Twitter or Facebook.
The user interface is smooth and easy to use, by default you get six “pin boards” but you can easily make more and customize them.
Although I have noticed that there are times that the service is very fast and other times the response time is horribly slow. That tells me that their infrastructure is having a hard time accommodating large spikes in usage. On the flip side their integration with Facebook has been implemented extremely well. If you are interested in this service I recommend giving Pinterest a try, you might just fall in love with it.
